Over 2,000 trades unionist joined the demonstration called by the TUC in Leeds as part of their day of action in defence of the right to strike, called in opposition to the government’s latest anti-union legislation sending minimum service levels on strike day.
The march was joined by large delegations from the UCU, NEU, ASLEF and PCS who had been on strike in Leeds that day in various disputes over the cost of living.
Socialist Party members had visited picket lines across the city that morning before joining the demonstration, with our strike bulletin calling for further coordinated strike action on budget day, 15th March, being well received.
