In the first protest so far in Yorkshire, around 15 construction electricians, protested outside the training centre of construction giant NG Bailey, in South Leeds.

As well as support from Leeds TUC, we brought solidarity to the protest from candidates standing for the Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition in the city.
I spoke at the protest, to remind those there that it was similar action, targeting the big construction companies and their customers which forced them to withdraw from the BESNA scheme, the last attempt to deskill electrical work.
NG Baileys withdrawal came following a series of mass protests, including Yorkshire sparks blocking the entrance to Morrisons HQ in Bradford, then a big NG Bailey customer, leading to tailbacks so long it took the police an hour to get to the protest to ask organisers to disperse.
The sparks on the protest were encouraged by the action, and will be looking towards organising future protests including targeting any big construction jobs nearby.
